How to Zero a Scope
A concise step-by-step guide with a recommended video walkthrough.
- Establish a safe range setup and confirm your firearm is unloaded until on the firing line.
- Start at a known distance (e.g., 25–50 m) to get on paper quickly.
- Use a solid rest or bipod and rear bag to minimise movement.
- Fire a 3–5 shot group. Measure the group’s centre relative to point of aim.
- Dial windage/elevation on the scope according to your click values to move point of impact toward point of aim.
- Repeat groups and corrections until centred. Then confirm at your desired zero distance (e.g., 100 m).
- Set or note your zero stop if your optic supports it. Record DOPE for later.
