Cleaning and Maintenance
Keep firearms reliable and safe with proper cleaning and lubrication.
Essentials
- Use a cleaning rod, bore guide (if applicable), appropriate brushes/patches, solvent, and quality lubricant.
- Field-strip according to the manufacturer’s manual. Always confirm the firearm is unloaded.
Basic Steps
- Clean the bore from chamber to muzzle where possible. Alternate solvent and dry patches until clean.
- Brush and wipe the chamber, bolt/slide, feed ramp, and other carbon-prone areas.
- Lightly lubricate bearing surfaces. Avoid over-lubrication that can attract debris.
- Inspect springs, pins, and screws for wear or loosening. Reassemble and function-check.
